The Problem / Challenge

When the managing agents arrived at their office based in Tower Bridge, London on Wednesday morning, Miss R the receptionist received an urgent call from a tenant who was panicking about moths that had flown out of her wardrobe in one of the apartments that the company managed.

Miss R immediately alerted the property manager, Mr K as she knew that moths had been a problem in that particular apartment block and didn’t want the moths to spread. It was then that Mr K the property manager of the building gave me a call and we arranged an urgent visit.

The Pest2Kill Solution:

We understood that it was imperative to attend the site immediately, as the problem needed to be dealt with before the moths caused any damage to the tenant’s belongings, also the soft furnishings and carpets within the apartment.

Having established from Mr K the property manager that there had been a similar problem in another apartment they managed in the block, it was imperative to the client to carry out the works with minimum disruption to the tenant.  Mr K met us at the property as the tenant had to go to work, it was there that the problem was discovered to be much worse than a few moths flying around.  It was quickly determined that the moths had been creating havoc, and when we opened the wardrobe, you could see that the moths had damaged the carpets at the bottom, with quite large holes in the pile, where it had been eaten away.

A Chemical treatment was required on the skirtings, wardrobes, cupboards soft furnishings, flooring, and carpets throughout the apartment to eradicate any larvae.  A second fogging fumigation treatment was also carried out to destroy any airborne moths. Due to the strength of the chemicals used once the treatments are carried out there should be no access to the property for a minimum of 3 hours.  As the tenant would be working until later that evening this wasn’t an issue, so the treatments were completed that morning.  The following day we contacted Mr K to ensure that the treatment had been successful, he confirmed that he had spoken with the tenant, and she was now moth free!  Mr K was so impressed he requested that we carry out the same treatment on the other 4 apartments that they managed in the block, at the tenant’s convenience to make sure the problem did occur in them.
