Squirrel Infestation In Shed

From his description we understood that it was likely that Mr B of Loughton could have an infestation of squirrels in his loft space, and with the change in the weather it was obvious that they had sought shelter for the winter period.  It was imperative to attend the site as soon as possible, as both squirrels can cause a lot of damage to property, and an infestation of needs to be dealt with quickly to bring the situation under control.  It was arranged with Mr B that we would attend the same morning of his initial call.

On arrival at the property, it was immediately ascertained from opening the shed that there was definitely more than one squirrel, and that they were definitely attempting to nest there for the winter period.  To resolve the squirrel infestation meant a two-pronged approach, firstly to bait the shed to eradicate any squirrels.  Secondly to ascertain where the squirrels were gaining access and seal this to prevent further infestations. The baiting of the shed was carried out that day and an appointment was made with Mr B to return a few days later to check on progress.

On the initial return visit Mr B reported that he hadn’t heard any noises coming from the shed when he stood outside, but he had waited for us to check the shed as he wasn’t!  When we inspected the squirrel traps in the shed, we found five squirrels, which were removed from the shed.  The squirrel traps were then re-baited, and a repair was also made to the shed flashing as this is where the squirrels had gained access, ensuring that no further access could be gained and again, we arranged to revisit a few days later.  On our final visit we again checked the shed and was pleased to inform Mr E that no further squirrel activity was found, and the infestation had been bought under control.
