• Camouflage – Lots of moth species are very well camouflaged, helping them blend into their surroundings. This adaptation aids in avoiding predators during the day when they are at rest.
• Life Cycle – Moths undergo a complete metamorphosis, consisting of four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis or cocoon), and adult. The larval stage is usually the feeding stage, where the caterpillar consumes food before pupating.
• Feeding Habits – Moths demonstrate a wide range of feeding behaviour. Some moths feed on nectar, just like butterflies, while others don’t feed at all as adults, focusing on reproduction during their short-tem adult lifespan.
• Diversity – There is a wide diversity of moth species, with a wide range of sizes, colours, and patterns. Some are brightly coloured, while others have more muted tones for camouflage.

It is important to know that while there are common characteristics shared by moths, there is considerable variation among the many species, each adapted to its own ecological niche and lifestyle.
